The voyage starts on bicycles from the Resort, heading out to the Abbey of Pomposa, where Benedictine monks chose to retire between the VI and VII centuries. Then the trip continues to the “Chiavica dell’Agrifoglio’, and old water mill, and along the Po di Volano, arriving at the Oasi di Cannaviè- Porticino. Just a bit more peddling and it is possible to capture a few photos of the many examples of bird species that inhabit the valley, hidden amidst the huts of the reserve suspended between bodies of water. Along the bank opposite the Oasi, bikes are parked to climb aboard the boat that continues along the to the mouth of the Po di Volano to stop at the “Tower of Finance” which dominates access to the sea. The cane thickets and bushy flora that welcome the egrets and white and red herons, will guide the visitor’s glance to the nature reserve of Volano. At this point we will have returned to our starting point, to climb again onto the bicycles and along the dirt banks through the fields to Resort.
